【摘要】:1.1Thistestmethoddescribesaprocedureforsamplingandanalysisofvolatileorganiccompounds(VOCs)inambient,indoor,orworkplaceatmospheres.Thetestmethodisbasedonthecollectionofairsamplesinstainlesssteelcanisterswithspeciallytreated(passivated)interiorsurfaces.Forsampleanalysis,aportionofthesampleissubsequentlyremovedfromthecanisterandthecollectedVOCsareselectivelyconcentratedbyadsorptionorcondensationontoatrap,subsequentlyreleasedbythermaldesorption,separatedbygaschromatography,andmeasuredbyamassspectrometricdetectororotherdetector(s).Thistestmethoddescribesproceduresforsamplingintocanisterstofinalpressuresbothaboveandbelowatmosphericpressure(respectivelyreferredtoaspressurizedandsubatmosphericpressuresampling).1.2ThistestmethodisapplicabletospecificVOCsthathavebeentestedanddeterminedtobestablewhenstoredincanisters.Numerouscompounds,manyofwhicharechlorinatedVOCs,havebeensuccessfullytestedforstoragestabilityinpressurizedcanisters(1-4).Althoughnotasextensive,documentationisalsoavailabledemonstratingstabilityofVOCsinsubatmosphericpressurecanisters.Whileinitialstudieswereconcentratedonnon-polarVOCs,informationonstoragestabilityhasbeenextendedtomanypolarcompoundsaswell(5-7).1.3Theprocedureforcollectingthesampleinvolvestheuseofinletlinesandairfilters,flowrateregulatorsforobtainingtime-integratedsamples,andinthecaseofpressurizedsamples,anairpump.Canistersamplershavebeendesignedtoautomaticallystartandstopthesamplecollectionprocessusingelectronicallyactuatedvalvesandtimers(8-10).Aweatherproofshelterisrequiredifthesampleristobeusedoutside.1.4Theorganiccompoundsthathavebeensuccessfullymeasuredatsingle-digitparts-per-billionbyvolume(ppbv)levelswiththistestmethodarelistedinTable1.ThistestmethodisapplicabletoVOCconcentrationsrangingfromthedetectionlimitto300ppbv.Abovethisconcentration,samplesrequiredilutionwithdryultra-high-puritynitrogenorair.Thisstandarddoesnotpurporttoaddressallofthesafetyconcerns,ifany,associatedwithitsuse.Itistheresponsibilityoftheuserofthisstandardtoestablishappropriatesafetyandhealthpracticesanddeterminetheapplicabilityofregulatorylimitationspriortouse.Safetypracticesshouldbepartoftheuser''sSOPmanual.
