【摘要】:Inthistestmethodacompactedsampleisvacuumsealedinsideaplasticbag.Thedensityofthesample,SG1,iscalculatedusingawaterdisplacementmethod,withthesamplesealed.Withthesamplestillinwater,thebagiscutopen.Sincethesampleisundervacuumandtheairvoidsareevacuated,waterwillrushintofillallthewateraccessibleairvoidsinthecompactedsample.Withthesaturatedweightofsampleknown,anapparentmaximumdensity,SG2,canbecalculated.ThedifferencebetweenSG2andSG1isthemeasureoftheamountofwaterthathaspenetratedthecompactedsample.Thisdifferencecanbeusedtodeterminethefractionoftotalnumberofvoidsthatareaccessibletowater,EffectivePercentPorosityorPercentEffectiveAirVoids.Theresultsobtainedfromthismethodcanbeusedtodeterminethepercentageoftotalairvoidsinacompactedsamplethatcanbefilledwithwaterthroughsurfaceorinterconnectedpathswithinthesample.Ingeneral,EffectivePercentPorosityshouldbelessthantotalpercentairvoids.Thismethodcanbeusedfor100mmand150mmdiametercylindricalsamplesandcubicalsamples.1.1Thistestmethodcoversthedeterminationofeffectiveporosityoreffectiveairvoidsofcompactedmixturesbytheuseofavacuumsealingmethod.1.2Thismethodcanbeusedforcompactedfieldandlaboratorybituminouspavingsamples,aswellasothercompactedsampleswithwelldefinedgeometricalshapes,suchasconcretecylinders,coredrocks,andmetalsamples.1.3Theresultsofthistestmethodcanbeusedtodeterminethedegreeofinterconnectivityofairvoidswithinasampleandcanbecorrelatedtopermeabilityofcompactedbituminouspavingmixturesamples.1.4Amulti-laboratoryprecisionandbiasstatementforthisstandardhasnotbeendevelopedatthistime.Therefore,thisstandardshouldnotbeusedforacceptanceorrejectionofamaterialforpurchasingpurposes.1.5Thisstandarddoesnotpurporttoaddressallofthesafetyconcerns,ifany,associatedwithitsuse.Itistheresponsibilityoftheuserofthisstandardtoestablishappropriatesafetyandhealthpracticesanddeterminetheapplicabilityofregulatoryrequirementspriortouse.
